SQR is packaged as a suite of products that provides the database userwith the most sophisticated report generating capabilities in theindustry, and a 4GL that allows the user to write programs for anydatabase application. SQR Workbench includes: SQR, Easy SQR, SQR-Execute,and SQR Developer's Kit.It is the most powerful report writer available today and can do anyreport that is required. Applications built with SQR can be highlycomplex, and can incorporate other languages. SQR can be thought of as asuperset of SQL with the development power of languages such as C, but itrequires as little as 25% of the code to accomplish the same task.While SQR is capable of producing highly complex reports, its syntax andstructure are remarkably simple and easy to learn. A programmer with amoderate amount of experience can become proficient in building complexreports in just a few hours.SQR has the ability to do read, write and update operations on adatabase, and can access external flat files for these operations. Thesefeatures mean that applications built with SQR can be much broader inscope than just reporting. SQR is a full-featured 4GL that is being usedwidely for many applications.SQR is a true client/server product with the ability to operate on theserver (if desired) to take direct advantage of the server power. SQR canalso operate on clients such as PC's for added convenience andflexibility.SQR is very robust and is especially appealing to the programmer who hasthe responsibility of mission-critical applications for the organization.These applications are typically highly complex. They might require thatreading and writing to and from flat files as well as the database,require significant computing resources to execute, generate a variety offorms of output, and may need to operate across various hardwareplatforms and diverse databases.Easy SQR is an easy-to-use, yet powerful query builder and reportprototype tool. It enables users to create a complete range of formattedreports without having to write a single line of SQR or SQL code. Usingpoint-and-select menus, a user can view all tables and columns in thedatabase without using any SQL operations. The user can create an SQLquery from a single table, or join multiple tables within minutes.Finished reports can be saved, re-run later, as either and Easy SQRsession. They can also be saved as an SQR program for later enhancement.In either case, the report is easily modified. Full help screen supportis available for all functions.SQR-Execute is a runtime version for executing SQR reports thatprogrammers develop for specific applications. These standard reports canthen be run by the application's end users.SQR Developer's Kit is composed of the following three productivitytools: TRACE provides variable and procedure call tracing, X-REF providesa cross reference facility for variables, and HIERARCH displays the SQRprogram structure.
